Are we moving fast enough in professionalising women’s sport?

Professional women athletes struggle to survive from playing wages, while prospective players have to choose between their passion and a full time career

Since the creation of the AFLW And NRLW competitions in the late 2010s, women’s sport in Australia has grown drastically.

Millions of Australian women and girls are playing and watching sporting matches, with young girls now having a pathway to represent their favourite sporting teams on a professional level.

Many thought that things were progressing well in professionalising women’s sport, however the story of Fiona Worts made most Australians re-evaluate.

Are we moving fast enough in the professionalisation of the women’s game?
